Me As A Consumer Of Music

The genre of music that I mostly listen to is house, hip-hop and RnB, the artists in which I mostly listen to is Justin Bieber, Drake and the DJ David Guetta. I like these genres because the tempos in their songs are fairly quick. I like these artists because I like the lyrics and tunes in their songs. I don’t like gothic music as I don’t like the tune and I do not understand what they are saying half of the time. I also do not like opera music because there is no beat. I do not like heavy metal because I my opinion they are just shouting into a microphone and the beat is terrible. I listen to music either on my phone or on my laptop and I listen to it most days.

26.8 billion audio streams represent over a fifth (22 per cent) of music consumed in UK – although if streaming through music video sites were to be added, the combined total for streams would top the 50 billion mark (53.7 billion). 1 million LPs purchased as vinyl sales climb 64 per cent to 21-year high, while decline in CD slows to 3.9 per cent as format still accounts for two thirds (66 per cent) of all album sales (excluding streams).  I rarely listen to the radio but when I do I listen to capital and I also listen to music on my phone but I never listen to music channels.

I do not buy music I download off of apps onto my phone because it’s easy and it’s free. British artists dominate, claiming seven of top 10 and 15 of top 20 Official Charts Artist Albums, including 2015 BRITs Critics Choice recipient James Bay.  Six of the top 10 most streamed artists in 2015 are British.

The first and second statistic reflect how I consume music because I am a part of the 82% that’s streams their music.
